That little shunter sounds lovely too - anyone know the engine in that and its configuration?

Class 37s are fantastic, I have been on trains hauled by them all over the UK but nowhere better than the west highland line between Glasgow QS and Crianlarich, often on the runs, especially if the train lost a bit of time, it seemed that the driver was connected to the loco. I have been amazed that those train never left the track. Absouluty fantastic.

The 37 was the first locomotive that I drove when I started with BR at eastfield traction depot springburn Glasgow as a fireman/ second man my uncle was a mainline driver at eastfield he was an old dawsholm steam man as was my grandfather my first shift was on nightshift on a refuelling job my driver that night was an old driver who was on light duty’s because he had had a heart attack and was not allowed on the mainline and basically spent his shift in the bothy watching the tv and drinking tea he showed me a couple of times what to do and that was it I was basically left to my own devices I was only 19 loved the class 37 my favourite locomotive

Are they noisy in cabs when under load end up with deafness

Taking the Tractor for a spin ,hear those Napier Turbos sing, noisy smelly CHARASMATIC!!! a proper loco, does the starter motor sound like Sam Ryder with his John Thomas caught in a door.

Great engine in its day reputed the most efficient. Shame it’s all dedicated old timers preserving it. Not enough engineers always the UKs problem …

I’m the guard on the train there. I was aware I was being filmed carrying the lamp along the platform but didn’t realise it was your good self behind the camera😀

This loco was in Brechin quite a few years back the same year it went to Aviemore for a rail tour of the StrathSpey railway line nice to see itstill with us today ❤❤❤❤❤❤

A great reminder at 14:25 that mistakes are easily made. Fortunately it was not in a critical area. More embarrassing than dangerous. I have always thought it's better to own up than be found out. The Huron milling machine is a great addition, if very noisy, to our workshop. Great video as usual Alex, many thanks. 23:06 One of my great grandfathers was station master at Dullatur. My gran grew up there. One of my other great grandfathers was a painter on the railway. He was hit by a train near Dullatur and taken into the station. He survived and eventually his grandson married the station masters grand daughter.

Is class 614 still alive

I suppose the update was about the B&KR so maybe the hydrogen train that just seems to sit there doing nothing wasn't enirely relevant but there do not seem to be any recent developments. Not surprising really as in October 2022, the German state of Baden-Württemberg announced that it would not be considering further use of hydrogen trains, as a study it commissioned found them up to 80% more expensive than electric trains powered by batteries or overhead wires. Maybe all the wise people who have been praising the idea have now been forced to admit that the emperor actually doesn't have any clothes. There certainbly seem to be plenty of people these days determined to tell us that the naked emperor really has the finest clothes you could imagine. Group think is a wonderful thing. Head of Technology here. Chief Executive there. Professor here. Government minister there. There's no shortage of highly-placed people telling us what wonderful clothes the emperor has.
